Principles of Education and Training is designed to introduce learners to the various careers available within the education and training career cluster. Students use self-knowledge and educational and career information to analyze various careers within the education and training career cluster. Students will also gain an understanding of the basic knowledge and skills essential to careers within the education and training career cluster. Students will develop a graduation plan that leads to a specific career choice in the student’s interest area.

Education and Training is a field based internship which provides you with knowledge by observing, getting to know learning styles, reading, participating by working with individual, small groups, and whole classrooms on elementary and middle school campuses in BISD. We feel that this is a great chance for you to see if teaching is for you. You will be with a mentor who will help guide you with direct individualized instruction, group activities, and record keeping with different grade levels.

Every teacher has a unique way of teaching. Our hope is to ideally be in the program for two years with 4 different teachers. You will learn great tips, and their procedures that work for them. Your mentor will gauge your ability by giving you small tasks then gradually have you teaching in their classroom. As your advisor, you and I will talk about successes and problems weekly. I will be observing and giving you feedback on how to improve your skill set.
